Terms of service
Effective
These terms are the agreement between Plain Site Designs ("we", "us") and the business that hires us ("you"). When you tick "I agree to the terms" and pay the deposit, you accept them. Questions: hello@
1. The free preview
We may build a preview of a website for your business before you hire us. It's free, and you owe nothing for it. It stays online for a few days and then comes down. It's a sample: the photos are stock photos and the words are placeholders until you give us your own.
2. What we build
A website for your business that works well on phones, with your details, your services and a button that calls you. The price and what's included are shown on your payment link. Before launch you get two rounds of changes. New pages, online stores, logos and other extra work are quoted separately.
3. Paying for the build
- You pay in two halves: a deposit when you say yes, and the second half when your site is ready to launch.
- The deposit is not refundable. You've seen your free preview before you decide, and we start work as soon as you pay.
- Your site goes live on your web address once the second half is paid.
- We take card and bank payments through Stripe. Ask us about other ways to pay.
4. What you give us
- The details and photos we ask for (we send a short form). We write the words, and you check them before launch.
- You confirm that what you send us is accurate and that you have the right to use it, such as your logo and photos. You're responsible for the claims on your site, like prices, hours and licenses.
5. The care plan
- After launch, your site is on our monthly care plan. The monthly price is shown when you sign up, and billing starts the month after launch.
- It covers: hosting and the padlock (HTTPS), security and spam protection, a daily check that your site is up, saved versions of your site, renewal of your web address (up to $25 a year), upkeep of your Google business listing, a business email address that forwards to your inbox, and up to 3 small updates a month (like new hours, prices or photos), usually done within 2 business days.
- Bigger changes, like a new page, are quoted separately.
- You can cancel any time with 30 days' notice by emailing us.
- If a monthly payment fails and isn't fixed within 14 days, we may pause your site until it is.
6. Your web address
We register your web address and renew it while you're on the care plan. If you leave, we transfer it to you.
7. Who owns what
- Once you've paid in full, the words, photos and logo on your site are yours to use. If you leave, we give you a copy of your site's files.
- We keep the right to reuse our own designs, templates and code for other clients. Stock photos stay under their own licenses.
- We may show your site as an example of our work. Tell us if you'd rather we didn't.
8. What we can't promise
We build a good site and look after it, but we can't promise search rankings, calls or sales. Your site runs on outside services (such as hosting and domain providers), and we're not responsible for their outages or other events we can't control.
9. Limits of our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits. Our total responsibility for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before it.
10. Disputes and payments
If something's wrong, email us first and we'll work it out. Please don't dispute a charge with your bank before talking to us. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with a new date. The terms you agreed to when you paid apply to that project.
